VINTAGE ORIGINAL 1920's BLACK VELVET WOMEN'S BRIMMED HAT w/ LARGE BLACK FLOWER

Description

Here is a vintage original 1920's women's black velvet and taffeta hat with a large black taffeta flower on one side with gold cording.  There is a black band in the same taffeta fabric, also with gold cording.  The crown's inside band area circumference is about 24".  There is damage to the underside of the brim, cutting a structural rod, towards the back and on one side (see photo).
From how it was stored for nearly 100 years, it needs professional (or competent) blocking to hold a proper shape.  When not on the manikin's head, it has some creases and indentations.   I tried steaming a hat with a wig head, and the wig head melted.
The hat was unsold and stored from the Gayhart-Price Millinery, a Milwaukee, WI hat shop that operated from 1893 through the early 1930's.  It was a wholesale and retail shop
, and hats were trimmed to order.  Many of these hats were not yet trimmed
.  This is one of many I will be listing, and the Gayhart-Price name appears on some tags.
