Victorian Beige Silk Pleated Ruched Cane Drawn Shirred Spoon Bonnet Hat
This antique Victorian era beige silk pleated ruched cane drawn shirred spoon bonnet ribbon hat dates from the 1870s. It is made of a stiffened buckram linen cloth, mesh net lining the inside, with cane supports sewn into the channels and covered with a beige ecru cream color silk pleated ruched silk fabric, with tiny tucks and gathers. This beautiful beige bonnet has long curving wired sides which come to a point at the bottom and a high arched top with white lace tatting trim edging. The bonnet measures 12 inches tall on the front, 9 1/2 inches long down the back and is 7 inches wide. It is in good as-is condition, with some fraying of the silk along the bottom curving wired sides and the frame is slightly bent from storage (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of early antique Victoriana millinery art!
