ORIG VICTORIAN 1840s WHITE WORK EMBROIDERY MUSLIN DAY INDOOR DRESS HAT BONNET

Description

A very rare to find, Original 1840s lady's day / indoor poke style bonnet created with very sheer very lightweight muslin that is adorned with magnificent embroidery and open work. The back of the bonnet and along the sides have lovely hand done V stitching with each peak having a tiny French knot. Very meticulous tedious work.  Please see photos. In extremely good very clean condition; there is one very small hole on the right top side of the front ruffle and on the left side of the ruffle is a 1/2 that is away from the seam. Overall I consider this rare to find bonnet in excellent condition.  The model's head is just slightly too large. I originally acquired this wonderful bonnet in Philadelphia area ; it has been in the collection for over 40 yrs and kept in climate controlled environment.
