  • Condition: SEE PHOTOS. Very good, clean, comes from a smoke free home. No fade, soiling or spotting, velvet is excellent, no tears or holes. Interior clean. Was very well cared for in a walk in closet in the home of the original owner here in Beverly Hills, stored in a hat box. Please, ask if you need more photos or details.

    Description

    Quite luxurious and very elegant.  A vintage 1960s Christian Dior chapeau.   Lush pale mauve pink panne' velvet (a mirror velvet), expertly draped and layered into a French pastry of a hat.   In front is a glittering and sparkling, fine quality rhinestone brooch for evening glamour.  Supple and soft, fully lined in purple faille.   Label is Christian Dior Chapeaux Paris New York. One of the prettiest colors and most well made turbans I have come across.  Never before offered for sale, from a private collection here in Hollywood.  Label is Christian Dior Chapeaux New York Paris.   Thank you!

    IMPORTANT NOTE:  I have been contacted by several lookers here on Ebay, trying to "correct" me on the dating for this hat.  They are wrong, (sorry but true) as this hat does indeed date to 1961-1962.   While The clothing line Miss Dior was not launched until 1967, the Miss Dior name was originally attached to perfume in the 1950s, and by 1961 it also was the label for a line of ready-to-wear hats designed and sold by the House of Dior.   If you still have doubts, you can find advertisements for Miss Dior hats in major fashion magazines of the day.
