RARE ANTIQUE Photo of Young African American Man, c.1880-1890
    DESCRIPTION:
Rare EARLY antique studio photo of well-dressed young African American man.
Scans show it all. He looks like he feels uncomfortable wearing the suit and tie! Such early photos are very scarce since the number taken was small. This is no newer than 1880-90.
GREAT STUDIO POSE SITTING IN FANCY LARGE WICKER CHAIR!!
This came with a collection of several early, antique photos of African American subjects. Probably from the same antique album. Some are cabinet photos, identified with photographer names, and all from various towns in Mississippi, including GREENWOOD, MISSISSIPPI and HOLLY SPRINGS, MISSISSIPPI photographers. THIS ONE WAS IDENTIFIED AT THE BOTTOM AS BEING DONE BY WEATHERFORD & SON, CANTON & DURANT, MISSISSIPPI.
Very good condition overall. This would be a great addition to a collection or would look great framed. Measures  5 1/4" x 7 1/4".
    This is
a great gift for the antique photo collectors in your family. A great looking, rare early photo.
Good early, state identified photos of Black African Americans are very hard to find!
