    Description

    It is no longer acceptable for point-of-sale terminals to be totally
    unique, or proprietary devices. They must be able to run standard PC
    applications and attach standard PC peripherals as well as
    point-of-sale unique peripherals and software. The IBM SurePOS 700
    utilizes industry standards throughout its design. As a PCI bus
    machine, the SurePOS 700 provides a platform with the most widely
    utilized format within the PC industry. SurePOS 700 is a
    retail-hardened PC and, as such, utilizes:
    o The standard PC componentry of Intel and Intel-compatible
    processors
    o Standard socketed memory DIMMs
    o RS-232 ports
    o PC keyboard and mouse ports
    o 3.5-inch hard drives
    o Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, a parallel port, and SVGA video
