French Antique Edwardian Ostrich Plume Roses Millinery Flowers Pink Mauve Tan

Description

An unusual find for the historical milliner and textile collector.  Antique, from the Edwardian era circa 1905-1912.  French, of course!  Hand made ostrich feather roses, painstaking hand sewn and attached in the shape of an Arts and Crafts "flat rose".   Quite unique.  At first glance, I thought they were made of panne' silk velvet but a closer look told me they are hundreds of tiny velvety strands of ostrich plumage.  Backing is a thin silk.  The colors are so yummy.  A muted mauve plum color, a pretty rose pink, and a classic tan.  Each measures approx. 4 1/2" in diameter.
