    Description

    This auction is for photo that was framed. The photo has been folded near the bottom to fit in the frame. There  are  some names on the back piece that was folded. As is it is 10x6.5 inches. There is a red ribbon that reads 37th Annual Session O W. T. District S. S. & B. T. U. Congress Second Baptist Church El Paso, Texas June 4-9, 1940. Rev. S Y. Nixon Pres. , Rev O. P. Felder Pastor.
    Rev. S.Y. Nixson served the church during the civil rights movement. During Rev. Nixson’s tenure, the educational annex was built and the auditorium was bricked and air conditioned. Rev. Nixson was a spokesperson for equality in education and helped end segregation in the Longview public schools.
