Presented here is a stunning original Victorian hat c 1895, Paris. Has the original label inside; Mme Georgette, 1 Rue de la Paioc, Paris, there is an old small tape sticker with 1895 written on it. This is made of old silk velvet, it has inserts of embroidered net lace around the brim and on the crown. It has wired construction and hand sewn. The brim is laden with dramatic feather plumes, two small curled plumes are on the crown bound with gold metallic. The shape is exquisite, rolled up on one side with a wide boat shaped brim and "crushed" crown. The hat measures about 16 x 12" without the feathers, inside crown 21", about 5" high. The hat is fabulous, original as is antique condition, it does show age, the velvet has spots and around the edge where the nap is worn, there was a net lining behind the lace which is mostly missing, the embroidered lace netting has some tears, the embroidery looks good, the plumes are gorgeous and original, some are loose and may need to be rearranged or re-attached, the silk lining is still good. The hat shows spectacular!
