    Description

    These are quite rare.  Genuine antique Bird Of Paradise plumes, these are Goura crown plumes, perfect for your millinery collection or to adorn your hat.  Taken from the head of the male Goura, also known as the Victoria Crown Pigeon.   These date to the Victorian the perhaps early Edwardian era, and were at one time popular (and very expensive) feather tirmmings for ladies hats and millinery adornments, and were a statement of wealth and social status.  Queen Victoria had a favorite hat of the 1870s era which was trimmed with these Goura plumes, and the bird was named after her as well.   The color of the feather tips are a slate blue gray with cream tips.  Very light and airy looking.   Exceedingly rare today.  There are two long natural "stalks" and one faux Goura which is small black man-made trim.    The natural branches measure approx 14" long each.  A few feathers have come loose but these are in good shape.  Thank you for looking!
