    Description

    48 STAR AMERICAN FLAG
    WHIPPLE PEACE FLAG OF 1912
This is a new, framed 48 Star American Flag. A reproduction of an actual Flag designed by Wayne Whipple in 1912.
This flag is printed on cotton muslin. It is in an American made, 10" x 12" wood frame.
The Whipple Flag of 48 Stars, so called after its designer Wayne Whipple, who planned to call it the “Peace Flag”. The primary purpose of its designer was to epitomize American history by the same technique used in the “Medallion” Flag. Here, a central 6 pointed “Great Star” symbolizes the 13 original colonies, recalling both the Great Seal and the Great Star pattern of many early American Flags. The ring of stars around the “Great Star” represents the states admitted to the Union up to the Centennial of 1876. An outer ring represents the states admitted to the Union since the 1876 Centennial.
