At 75 I’m a retiring antique dealer who is beginning to clean out his stock of stored treasures.
For about forty years I was a pretty fanatical collector of early American flags and lots of other patriotic flag collectibles.
I was honored to have a great collection of them, but I always knew that I was only their custodian for a while and eventually it would be time to move them on to their next owner.
This 34-star flag Civil War era “Bible flag” was the kind of small keepsake that soldiers carried with them tucked into their Bible during the era of Kansas’ admission to the Union in 1861. This is a true hand done, folk art, one-of-a-kind treasure that was lovingly stitched together by a wife sending her husband off to war in order to preserve our Union.
