  • Condition: This box has wear to the silk to, especially along the top edge as can be seen in the photos. Overall the box is in fair to good condition, and exhibits genuine antique character.

    Description

    26 STAR FLAG SHIELD CANDY CONTAINER SILK AND PAPER.
    These charming small candy boxes were made in Germany in the early 1900's. The die cut box is cut in the shape of the union flag shield and covered in silk. The top is cushioned and soft. The condition is only fair due to the age with very light shattering on the silk and some bleeding of the colors. The inside is clean with some color loss on the bottom of the base. Please see the photos for details.
    The USA flag had 26 stars from 1837 to 1845, Michigan being the 26th state. This box, however, is not quite that old.
    This darling little box will be wonderful in a miniature display or with other Americana. The measurements are nearly 3 1/2" tall  across and just under 4" across and is actually among the larger sizes of these boxes produced.
