2 VINTAGE ORIGINAL 1920's PURPLE VELVET & TAFFETA WOMEN'S CLOCHE HATS w/ BRIMS

Description

Here are two vintage original 1920's women's purple velvet and taffeta cloche hats with a brims in the front.  The crown's inside band area circumferences are about 23 1/2" and 24 1/4".  The ribbon bands are comprised of a taffeta ribbon and a grosgrain ribbon.  The grosgrain ribbon has fringe.  On the first one pictured, the taffeta fabric has some wear, especially on edges and the under part of the brim.  The other one may have flaws that make it irredeemable.  The support wires for the crown and brim must have been crushed and caused them to break and poke through the fabric.  In the rougher hat, there is an area, near the back, with a wrecked edge.
From how they were stored for nearly 100 years, they need professional (or competent) blocking to hold a proper shape

When not on the manikin's head, they have creases and indentations.   I tried steaming a hat with a wig head, and the wig head melted.  The hat is lined.
The hat was unsold and stored from the Gayhart-Price Millinery, a Milwaukee, WI hat shop that operated from 1893 through the early 1930's.  It was a wholesale and retail shop
, and hats were trimmed to order.  Many of these hats were not yet trimmed
.  This is one of many I will be listing, and the Gayhart-Price name appears on some tags.
