FREE SHIPPING - AS USUAL!
(Because of advancing age and the problems that go with same, I'll be cutting back on the
number of items in my ebay store over the next few months - especially items that are
difficult to ship [like oversized pre ww1 sheet music and other oversized items] as well as inexpensive items that have been
listed for more than 2 years without much buyer interest. If you are watching such an
item in my store, you'd best buy it now before it's permanently removed).
Vintage original ca. 1955 sepia professional photo of a black owned home at, according to somewhat later inked notation on the verso, 17th Avenue South & Center Street, "across from Center Street School" (a black Birmingham School, now closed). Inscription also gives original homeowner's name, Gwendolyn Taylor.
I think the inscription is a little off because this is what BhamWiki has to say about Center Street School: "
West Center Street Elementary School was an elementary school in the Birmingham City Schools system located at 1712 3rd Street Southwest in the Woodland Park neighborhood.
The original 7-room school was open to African-American students. It was serving 280 students when it was expanded with 4 new classrooms, a library and a 'cafetorium' in 1963."
So this house would have been located 3 blocks from the school.
Measures 8x10 inches
(Starting 18 March 2020 - though I'm social distancing myself and have absolutely no symptoms - I will rub [until dry] a fresh dollop of hand sanitizer into my hands immediately before picking your items from my shelves and packing them - and again when I mail them).
1" tear at bottom edge; 3/4 inch tear on right; creases (barely breaking emulsion), GOOD PLUS but sound enough
. . . . . .
Remember that the
Abraham Lincoln Penny
is not attached to the item. It is put on the scanner bed merely to protect the uniqueness or near uniqueness of an image so that the high bidder gets an item that has not been copied via someone's computer. The penny DOES NOT hide any faults or any damage!
I apologize but due to recent machinations by ebay (they frequently like to "fix" things that ain't "broken"), the links shown above may not take you to the specific subject areas shown but will, rather, take you to my entire store where you will now have to do your own searches for those very specific locations and subjects :-{
