    This Flag, adopted in 1799 is still an offical flag of the United States, though many people are not aware of this. First known as the "Revenue Cutters Flag", used in 1799 by the Revenue Cutters, which was an eary version of the United States Coast Guard. It has since been known as the American "Civil Flag", a flag for non military Americans for use during peace time. It has also been known as the "peace flag", the "Customs Flag" and the "forgotton Flag" of the United States. A simular Flag is still used today by the United States Coast Guard and the United States Customs Service.
